Calabash Cove Resort & Spa: All-Inclusive St Lucia Paradise

Sharing is caring!

Last week, we were lucky enough to spend a week in the Caribbean on the gorgeous island of St. Lucia staying at one of the best all-inclusive resorts in St Lucia. And to make all that a lot better, we found ourselves relaxing in a 5-star all-inclusive boutique resort called Calabash Cove Resort & Spa! In fact we were so impressed with it that we can’t wait to share our thoughts with you.

If you’re looking for a small and adults-only St Lucia luxury resort with fantastic food and drinks, Calabash Cove Resort & Spa St. Lucia might well be perfect for your next vacation. It’s one of those places where you can just completely forget about everything and enjoy your time. One suggestion up ahead: Do book the all-inclusive plan because once you’ve had a taste of the food and drinks you won’t be able to stop ordering all sorts of items on the menu.

GETTING TO CALABASH COVE RESORT & SPA

You can travel to St. Lucia on direct flights from the UK, the US, and Canada. In addition, there are a lot of flights coming in from other Caribbean places like Barbados or Martinique.

Once you’re there, you don’t have to worry about anything. The hotel will organise your transfer for you. If you‘re landing at the main international airport (Vieux Fort, UVF), the ride should take you about 90 minutes along the coastline and through local villages and the rainforest.

If you‘re landing at the local airport (Castries, SLU) like most intra-Caribbean flights do, Calabash Cove is no more than a 15 minute ride away. Here’s a map with the resort (circle) and the two airports of St Lucia:

RESORT / FACILITIES

The setting of the Calabash Cove Resort & Spa is nothing short of stunning! It’s located in a cove right on a secluded beach, built on a slope so you take in these amazing views from pretty much anywhere you are! Since the coastline here is facing west, you can admire a beautiful sunset every single night!

From the moment you first step into the lobby, you know what the hotel is all about. You‘ll be greeted not only with amazing views over the restaurant and the ocean, but also with big smiles on everybody’s face and some delicious cocktails.

The restaurant and bar are located just next to the lobby, right on the edge of the main building with fantastic sunset views.

From here, you can overlook the large infinity pool with the adjacent pool bar – and pretty much the entire bay.

The spa is close to the pool area, but you can also choose to have your treatments anywhere around the resort on request, for example in your room, in the little gazebo, or elsewhere depending on the time of day.

Walk down some steps and you’ll find yourself at the beach. There are free activities like kayaking, snorkelling or paddle boarding available at any time right from the beach. If you’d like to do something along the lines of jet-skiing, wake-boarding or diving, just tell reception and they’ll organise something for you.

ROOMS / COTTAGES

We were able to go straight into our room after arriving at Calabash Cove Resort & Spa at around midday, which was great. We were booked into a Sunset Ocean View Junior Suite which actually was a really nice room to have. Large and bright with an oversized jacuzzi and a balcony with a day bed on it. And the ocean view really deserved its name!

But despite Calabash Cove having less than 30 rooms in total, you have other options too. There are three completely different types of accommodation – something for everybody’s taste! Every single one comes with an own balcony or patio.

13 Sunset Ocean View Junior Suites (57-62m²)

These are the “standard” rooms of which seven are located in the main building in-between the Swim-up Junior Suites and the restaurant with pool and ocean views. Another six are located in a separate two-floor building next to it. We stayed in the adjacent building on the upper level and the ocean view was fantastic as well! All of these suites feature a balcony and a jacuzzi.

4 Swim-up Junior Suites (60m²)

These are essentially the same Junior Suites, but they each have a patio with private pool access so if you feel like getting a drink from the pool bar just swim over and get one. Or if you want to go for a swim at 3 o’clock in the morning just do it! Plus you’ll have that amazing infinity pool view right out of your bed!

9 Water’s Edge Cottages (100m²)

If you’re looking for an own little plunge pool, which is perfect if you’re wanting a honeymoon package in St Lucia, look no further. The Waters Edge Cottages offer 100m² of your own private space including a patio with a plunge pool and ocean views! As the name suggests, they’re dotted along the water. There usually is a five night minimum stay requirement for these cottages, but you might be able to request shorter stays individually.

No matter what room you’re in – if you‘ve booked an all inclusive plan, the minibar in your room will also be free of charge. We couldn‘t really believe our eyes when we found out what‘s classified as a “mini” bar at Calabash Cove Resort though!

Not only a fridge filled with water, soft drinks and beer, but also a large variety of spirits and wine in full size bottles! And yes it will be restocked just in case you choose to drink that much in your room in addition to all those mouthwatering drinks at the two bars.

FOOD / DRINKS

This is the real deal at Calabash Cove Resort: The food and drinks are exceptional and with the all inclusive plan (definitely worth the money if you’re coming with two people and you like having a few drinks) you can indulge in all day a-la-carte dining and an unlimited amount of drinks without worrying about the cost.

During the entire time of our stay (1 week, 3 meals a day, multiple courses) we didn‘t have one single dish that we didn‘t like. In fact, most of them were simply excellent!

The drinks were no different to that. We had at least a few drinks each day. Whether that was at the pool bar, upstairs bar, the restaurant or ordered to the room, they were always delicious and often made with some fresh fruit.

In addition, we can not speak highly enough of the staff and their service. We found it to be professional and attentive at the restaurant and the upstairs bar, fun and entertaining at the pool bar – exactly like it should be. Everybody was extremely friendly and always asking whether anybody was in need of something else. Caribbean service at its best!

And if you’re feeling lazy at some point or you would just rather like to enjoy your food in your own room, everything will be brought right there with no extra charge. We had lunch on our balcony one day and this is what it looked like:

ST LUCIA

When we go to a new country, we always enjoy to see things outside of the hotel. Luckily our driver on the way from the airport to Calabash Cove had already stopped at some scenic places for us, but there was still a lot more to see.

St. Lucia is famous for the volcanic Pitons (Petit Piton and Gros Piton) on the west coast of the island:

There are plenty of tours to choose from which all include seeing the Pitons and some other activities in the area like a buggy tour, the mud baths, botanical gardens, snorkelling, or similar things. You can usually choose between a car or a boat to get you down to the area. We went on a catamaran and that was great fun. It included free snacks and soft drinks on the way out as well as beer and cocktails on the way back whilst cruising through some lovely bays!

Every Friday night there is a street party going on in Gros Islet which was a lot of fun and only 15 minutes from Calabash Cove by car. You’ll probably make friends at the pool bar who’d like to join you so then you can split a taxi.

SUMMARY

A luxury boutique St Lucia all inclusive adults only resort with excellent ratings right on a Caribbean beach! Can’t get much better than that surely?

Calabash Cove Resort & Spa knows how to impress with an excellent choice of food and drinks, available from early morning until late at night. All three different types of rooms have their own benefits, but they’re all very nice to live in. The staff is simply amazing and highly motivated to make your time at the resort even more memorable.

Due to the small size of the resort, you can choose your own preferred level of privacy quite well. It’s easy to get to know fellow travellers over a couple of drinks at the pool bar, but at the same time you can almost feel like you’re on your own when hanging out in your Water’s Edge Cottages private pool or down by the beach.

Calabash Cove All-Inclusive Resort

In addition to that, St. Lucia is a beautiful island and everybody should go on a trip down the west coast at least once while on the island.
