Finding the perfect romantic getaway is always a tough decision. There are so many wonderful places out there it can be hard to find the best one for you. Therefore we have gathered all our favourite destinations for couples around the world into one blog post to help you make the big decision, that little bit easier.
Santorini, Greece
Santorini is one of those places you always dream of visiting, and some day you know you’ll travel to. Usually on the front cover of a travel magazine or on famous Instagram accounts, we can guarantee you’ll have a romantic, unforgettable stay if you visit this magnificent island. With beautiful white stone walls forming the fabulous caldera villages, Santorini Greece is also famous for romantic sunsets, the volcano and many private luxurious resorts. For such a small island, Santorini has it all.
Paris, France
Also known as the city of love, Paris is a no brainer. A place where starry-eyed lovers stroll hand-in-hand along the River Seine or linger in sidewalk cafes speaking French, the “language of love.” There is a huge variety of things to see and do whilst surrounding yourself with all things romantic. How about visiting some of the most beautiful and historic monuments in the world, including the Eiffel Tower and The Arc De Triomphe? If that doesn’t do it for you then we are sure the food will. Sample the many delicious cheeses, bread, the great French wines, the gourmet restaurants, as well as paying a visit to the Champagne Region, which is just a day trip away.
Rome, Italy
If you are travelling to Rome with your partner, first of all you’ll have the most wonderful time, but second make sure you don’t miss out on our top 3 romantic places to visit in Rome.
1. The Trevi Fountain: Cliché? Of course, but who could deny the magic of this wishing fountain which contains coins of many international currencies thrown by travellers who follow the ancient tradition wishing for goodwill and a quick return to Rome!
2. Gianicolo Hill: If you want to capture the city in one breathtaking panorama, then Gianicolo Hill is a must. The view is stunning and perfect for a picnic or romantic stroll. With fewer tourists, beautiful views, lovely green gardens and plenty of food choices make this an ideal romantic destination of Rome.
3. Pincio Gardens: If a peaceful, cosy and lush surrounding sounds like an idyll destination then this is perfect for you. There’s a small lake in the middle with many benches around and chances are you’ll find many canoodling couples here.
The Maldives
The Maldives is famous for being a prime romantic destination. Full of honeymooners, people renewing their vows or just couples wanting a romantic escape. Romance certainly isn’t dead in the Maldives. There is a vast array of luxury boutique hotels throughout the many islands, so you certainly won’t be short of choice when deciding where to stay. Although the Maldives is notorious for pricey accommodation, romance does not necessarily mean a huge cost is incurred. You can certainly grab a great deal during low season to many of the top resorts, and using our 18% off code on CheapTickets.com this can really lower your price if you’re staying for an extended holiday.
Bali, Indonesia
Bali may claim to be the Island of the Gods, but, for many, it is also the island of romance. Weddings, honeymoons, romantic getaways – few places rival Bali when it comes to romantic travel. From the villages and ancient temples scattered throughout the island, to the emerald-green rice fields and thickly-forested mountains of Ubud, and the exotic sounds of gamelan music, to the intoxicating scent of spices and flowers, Bali will engage each and every one of your senses … and then completely seduce you! Not to mention the fact that it is considerably cheaper than other similar destinations. With hundreds of private villas with plunge pools avaliable, Bali is hard to beat. Take a look at our post on the cheapest pool villas in the world starting at just USD$75 a night!
Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Another popular destination for honeymooners and romantic getaways, however is more on the expensive side. Despite this, it is probably one of our favourite destinations and definitely worth the slightly higher price to visit. From the dramatic scenery to the privacy and amenities of luxurious overwater bungalows, everything in Bora Bora equals a 10 on the romance scale. How does breakfast brought to your overwater bungalow’s private balcony by an outrigger canoe regaled in flowers sound? Or a sunset cruise aboard a private catamaran including a four-course dinner and the sounds and emotions of live Polynesian music and dancers sound? If that doesn’t make you want to book a flight to Bora Bora for a romantic getaway, we’re not sure what will!
Fiji
Mother Nature worked overtime when she created Fiji. The lush, verdant rainforests, pristine white beaches, rugged mountainous terrain, turquoise lagoons and coral reefs that characterise Fiji are the stuff of which romantic holiday or idyllic island honeymoon dreams are made. No matter where in Fiji you end up, either on your own private island or on the mainland one thing’s for sure – you aren’t going to want to leave.
New York City, USA
There is something so romantic about the Big Apple. Whether its taking a romantic stroll in central park surrounded by high skyscrapers or visiting a cute little cafe in the suburbs, you’ll be sure to enjoy your stay in this remarkable city. We would recommend visiting New York during the winter months. Snow, frost and hot chocolate whilst being surrounded by 9 million people in this huge city with your love is something romantic and different to your usual getaway, that will always be something fond to remember.
Seychelles
Picture beautiful white sandy beaches, the sound of the waves lapping the shore and crystal clear waters, then you have a pretty good idea of what the Seychelles is like. The islands’ outstanding natural beauty makes it the perfect place to escape and relax with your significant other. If barefoot luxury is your thing, you’re in luck; the Seychelles is the perfect place to be shipwrecked in style. At a handful of exclusive private island resorts you can explore pristine wilderness in privacy and safety. There are no roads, cars, or dangerous creatures to worry about, just a few other guests and discreet yet attentive staff.

You don’t need to look far for a breathtaking panorama or a dreamy location to impress your loved one. As everywhere you turn you will find views to inspire warm, fuzzy feelings inside. Tuscany is a place of a thousand and one nights. One that inspires wonder and views that will make you feel as if you’re daydreaming. Staring over the sea at the horizon whilst the sun slowly sinks into the sea creates a peaceful and calm atmosphere perfect for enjoying a romantic evening with your partner. Don’t forget to bring along a blanket to sit on, a bottle of Tuscan wine and two glasses. That’s all you need to create one of the most romantic experiences ever!
Venice, Italy
Venice is just about the most romantic city on earth. And it’s true, it really is. Even those who hate cliches can’t deny the romance of this unique and captivating place. Although Venice is full of tourists blocking your every move, there are plenty of places to escape the hustle and bustle of Venice. Away from the tourist sights and main thoroughfares, you will find plenty of quiet and picturesque canal sides and lanes to wander hand-in-hand. OK, gondola rides aren’t cheap, but they’re not as cripplingly expensive as you may think – around €80 for 40 minutes. And just think of having to confess to folks back home that you didn’t share a gondola trip with your loved one?

Cinque Terre, Italy
Cinque Terre is a string of century-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. In each of the 5 towns, colourful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces, and harbours are filled with fishing boats. Koh Samui, Thailand
With its coral blue waters, white sand beaches, lush tropical greenery and a string of beachside luxury hotels to choose from, it’s no wonder lovers flock to the island. Heading to Koh Samui with your partner? We’ve listed the most romantic things you can do on this island of love:
1. Waterfalls: Nothing says romance like frolicking in the water falls – and Koh Samui has many to choose from. The two waterfalls that are the most easily accessed are Hin Lad and Namuang.
2. Watch the Sunset: Bang Rak Beach is a popular spot for sunsets, and it has several beach bars where you can enjoy a tipple with your view. The quiet bay of Taling Ngam is also a great spot if you don’t mind travelling a bit.
3. Couples Massage: Thailand is known as the place for amazing and cheap massages! So why not have a couples massage? Known for its many excellent spas, and many packages are designed for two. So treat yourselves! If you want to turn up the relaxation a notch, have your couple’s massage on the beach – many resorts offer beachside or poolside massages.

Well I am lucky enough to have been to 4 of these locations. I would also add in another Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean, beautiful island not too much humidity and 365 beaches all public what an incredible place. I hope to hit the Maldives one day it’s killing me trying to save the cash to go there as I would like to spend 2 weeks just doing nothing on those beaches, heaven.
Hi Faith!
That’s amazing! Yes we have been to Antigua and it was stunning, there are just so many amazing places in the world! Yes the Maldives is pure paradise!

So many fantastic places, you really don’t make it easier for us to check all the romantic couple locations 🙂
But I agree, Paris and many places in Italy we have seen as well and yes, they are absolutely romantic (Paris maybe not in all areas 😉 ). NYC comes next and then we look forward for the amazing places in Asia.

I’ve actually been to 6 of those places. Usually as a solo traveler though. Perhaps Bali is good four couples because there’s not much to see there as opposed to Rome or Paris?
Hi Brian!
Thats awesome! Bali is a beautiful beach destination with super cheap 5* hotels, wonderful food, amazing massages and great scenery!

I believe that nobody should ever go alone to the Maldives. It’s such a beautiful and romantic place which not so many things to do except getting massages or swimming in that crystal clear water. I would chose it as my number one romantic destination 🙂
Hi Joanna!
We 100% agree! 🙂

Santorini stands out for me just because it seems like the sort of place you can escape the crowds and sit quietly on a hill top watching the ocean – but that’s me. That being said, you could probably do that on an isolated stretch in either Bora Bora or the Seychelles – either way, they all look like incredible travel destinations !
Hi Derek
Santorini is such a beautiful place we can see why!

I loved this blog. I am mostly a solo travel but I know some places evoke strong emotions. There have been many times when I have craved for the company of a loved one. Out of the destinations you have mentioned, Greece, Bali and Kyoto appeals the most to me.
