Hotel Sadova Gdańsk Review: A Great City Getaway

Sharing is caring!

This was my first time to Poland and staying at Hotel Sadova, which happened to be a super last minute trip. However, I’m so glad I decided to go and explore Gdansk as this city surprised me more than any other city I’ve visited in Europe. The area around Old Town is stunning, with colourful and beautifully designed buildings everywhere you walk, a wonderful canal running through the centre and delicious restaurants serving local and international cuisine.

TripAdvisor recently voted this Polish port city one of the top five destinations ‘on the rise’ – and no wonder. With its mix of historic monuments, stunning architecture, jazz clubs and cool cafes it is certainly a city that is becoming more popular every year.  Make sure to take a Private Walking Tour which you will learn about the history and culture of Gdansk and Poland, see highlights of Gdansk, discover hidden gems of the city, and hear incredible stories.

Hotel Sadova Gdansk Review

Although my time in Gdansk was only for 3 nights, this still allowed me to visit all the major sites and attractions, all within walking distance from Hotel Sadova. I chose Hotel Sadova due to it’s central location (only a 5 minute walk into the heart of Old Town), the great facilities and contemporary touch the hotel provided.

Location

Hotel Sadova Location

Hotel Sadova is located right in the heart of the city, and only a short walk to Old Town and the major cities including; Fontanna Neptuna, The Crane Branch of the National Martime Museum, Basilica of St Mary, Central Station (Gdańsk Główny) and many highly rated restaurants, cafes and bars.

The following are walking times from Hotel Sadova:

Fontanna Neptuna: 12 minute walk
Start of Old Town: 5 minute walk
The Crane: 12 minute walk
Basilica of St Mary: 15 minute walk
Central Station (Gdańsk Główny): 25 minute walk

How To Get To Gdansk/Hotel Sadova From The Airport

There are a number of ways you can reach Gdansk city centre/Hotel Sadova with ease.

If you’re wanting a quick and stress free way of getting to the city I recommend Uber/Taxi or pre-organised private transfers direct to your hotel.

If you’re not too bothered about efficiency and arriving quickly I recommend either getting the direct bus from the airport straight to the city centre or the train which gets you to the city in about 35 minutes. The bus number is 210 towards Gościnna and runs every 30 minutes during the week and every hour on weekends. It costs PLN 3.20 which is about 80 cents!

Rooms

Compromising of 164 rooms across four floors Hotel Sadova has a choice of four different room types to suit your budget. These include:

Double Economy which is 19m².
Double/Twin Standard which is 24m² and the room I stayed in during the duration of my trip.
Double/Twin Lux which is 37m².
The Apartment which is a two room suite at 60m².

Click here to find more details on their website of the different room types at Hotel Sadova.

My flight didn’t arrive till 8pm, however when I arrived I was shown to my Double Standard Room, which was very spacious, modern and clean. It actually looked a bit like the apartment with a sloped roof and huge bathroom, it was great!

There was plenty of space to store your luggage, clothes and other necessary items throughout the room, a huge desk, two single beds joined together to create a double bed and a very spacious bathroom with a shower. It was perfect for a place to relax and unwind after a long day exploring Gdansk city.

The only issue with the room was the view, however for a weekend getaway you’re hardly going to be staring out of the room and this wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

Below are pictures of the room at Hotel Sadova that I stayed in:

Facilities

Swimming Pool

Hotel Sadova Gdansk Review

If you’re wanting to relax after a long day exploring Gdansk city centre, Hotel Sadova has a wonderful indoor 12m swimming pool, which was an excellent way for me wind and chill down after a hard day’s work sightseeing. Along the pool there are also loungers to sit back, relax and read a book.

The design of the pool is also in keeping with the modern contemporary vibe with male and female changing rooms to rinse off before jumping in the pool.

Sauna

The small sauna can accommodate roughly 5 guests, although it’s fairly small I was only ever the one using it despite the hotel being fairly full. It’s an infrared 50-60° sauna that will warm you up and relax your whole body.

Gym/Fitness Room

The gym is fairly compact in size, however it has a rowing machine, 3 treadmills, a cross trainer, a bike and a number of weights and benches to use. So a great range despite the fairly small size!

Hotel Sadova Spa

Although I didn’t use the spa facilities at Hotel Sadova, I did have a look at their relaxation massages and beauty treatments, which has an extensive range of treatments from face care to body care to massages, all very reasonably priced.

Bicycles

Hotel Sadova also offers hire bikes for you to explore the city on. Although most of the Old Town and main attractions are within a 30 minute walk of everything, a bike is a great option if you’re short on time and want to explore further afield. The price for 1 day is just US$10.

Restaurants/Bars

Within the Hotel Sadova itself, there is a separate bar area, relaxation area, breakfast/dinner restaurant and a cider garden.

Breakfast

Located at Papieroovka Restaurant, breakfast is served from 6:30am till 10:30am during the week and till 11am during the weekends. There is a huge selection of food available even a kids corner with a chocolate fountain! They offer a wide selection buffet style with cold and hot foods. The cuisine is based on local products with a variety of meats, cheese and breads.

Hotel Bar

The hotel bar is located adjacent to the lobby area and entrance to the hotel. I had a number of drinks during my stay there, it’s a great place to relax and get a bit of work done. There is a huge variety of spirits and drinks available to guests including bar stools and separate tables to suit your needs.

Cider Garden

Around the back behind the Papieroovka Restaurant is a seperate Cider Garden. I absolutely adored the style and decor of the area, and this is definitely not to be missed during your stay at Hotel Sadova! They actually have Polands largest selection of Ciders there, and trust me they are delicious. You can choose from cider by the class, cocktails with cider, bottled cider and big bottled cider. Yummy!

Summary

To sum up my stay, it was a pleasure to experience everything Hotel Sadova had to offer during my time in Gdansk, Poland. This is the perfect hotel if you’re wanting a modern/contemporary design with top facilities, great food and added extras like the Cider Garden. From checking in to checking out the staff were friendly, spoke good English and were always there to fulfil your requirements if need be.

Hotel Sadova Gdansk Review

Hotel Sadova is a very new addition to the hotel market in Gdansk, opening in 2016. It is currently building its reputation, but I’m sure it will end up being one of the most popular and best rated hotels in Gdansk.
