Ultimate Packing List For Male Travellers

Being a traveller I know how hard it is to think of what to pack and bring when you’re going travelling abroad. As a result, I’m showing you guys my personal packing list that I use every time I hit the road on my next adventure!

It comes with its own detachable daypack and the integrated rain cover is extremely practical too, because you can’t get along without one in the tropics. It’s possible to either cover the whole backpack to check it in for a flight, or to just cover everything apart from the straps so you’ll still be able to carry it.

The straps are adjustable to an extent that they would fit almost everyone and all parts that come in contact with your body are padded very well.

I can really recommend this backpack, but you shouldn’t buy it if you have a strong build. In that case, Deuter offers similar alternatives. It’ll cost you about 150 to 200 USD depending on where you buy it, which is the average for backpacks and therefor represents very goo value for money.

 Electronics

  • Batteries (charged! easy to forget)
  • SD cards (empty! easy to forget)
  • Tripod (including the camera attachment)
• Adapters for whatever countries you are planning on travelling to

  • Power bank charger

Clothes

• T-shirts (1 a day on short trips, max 14 on long trips)
• Shorts (1 pair a week on short trips, max 3 on long trips)
• Long jeans (1 pair will be enough in a hot country, for example you may need a pair for a rooftop bar etc.)
• Swimming trunks (2 pairs. I hate putting wet ones on and they don’t take up much space)
• Boxers (1 pair a day on short trips, max 14 on long trips)
• Socks (Almost none in hot countries, but 1 pair a day / max 14 pairs where I can’t wear flip flops)
• Flip flops / trainers / whichever one is the most appropriate 2nd pair of shoes
• Trackies, cozy jumpers and a proper jacket (if I go to a cold place, which rarely happens)

Toiletry Bag

• Hanging / folding toiletry bag (hanging it somewhere is a lot better than putting it on the floor)
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste
• Shampoo
• Deodorant
• Ear buds
• Razor
• Suncream
• DEET insect repellent
• Moisturiser / After sun
• Nail set

Other

• Large towel plus small towel (They take up too much space to fit two in)
• Head torch (if you’re planning to hike in the dark / camp / etc., otherwise phone torch is fine)
• Lock with key (for locking your belongings in dorm lockers)
• Toilet paper (lots of times there won’t be any so you’re better off having a bit with you)
• Basic medicine / first aid (you’re gonna end up needing one of these, but you won’t know which one, so bring all)
  • Something against a cold
  • Something against the runs
  • Something against nausea
  • Plasters of different sizes
  • Disinfectional wound spray (really helps a lot to keep infections from you if you’ve hurt yourself)

Formalities

• Passport (valid for at least 6 months after your travels, as some countries require this)
• Visa application confirmation
  • Other requirements for your visa like photos etc, address you’re staying at, etc…
• Travel insurance details
• Vaccination record
• All reservations for flights / trains / buses / rental cars / hotels on my phone or printed off
• If you’re under 18 or underage in the country you’re going to, make sure to have a consent form signed by your parents for general stuff like checking into hotels, walking around at night, etc. including a scan of their IDs on the paper. No one would care in most countries, but mine helped greatly when I walked the Las Vegas strip on my own after midnight being 17 and police stopped me because I looked underage.
