Thailand is one of those countries that suits every type of traveller, whether you’re on a backpacking budget or you’re on a luxury getaway staying at one of the many amazing hotels in Thailand. We’ve done both, and some of the best hotels we’ve stayed in have been here. Put simply, there are too many extremely luxurious properties located throughout the whole country, and especially so on Koh Samui and Phuket. As a result, making a list of our favourite hotels in Thailand was hard, but we’ve narrowed it down to make that decision a little bit easier for you.
Thus, the following 16 hotels are our personal favourites if you’re you’re looking for the most amazing hotels in Thailand.
All of the hotels on this last start between US$100 and US$3,000 a night. The good thing about some of the really large villas is, that they often offer five or more bedrooms so you could split the cost with your friends or family.

The Most Amazing Hotels In Thailand Revealed
Six Senses Koh Yao Noi
You can see the characteristic limestone rocks in the Andaman Sea right from your bed or own infinity pool if you decide to stay at the Six Senses Yao Noi, located on the island Koh Yao Noi about 45 minutes by speedboat from Phuket. This resort is also a close to Koh Phi Phi and Khao Phing Kan (James Bond Island), which are both great places to explore on a day trip.
Santhiya Koh Yao Yai
We’ve had the pleasure of spending 5 nights at this stunning resort. The Santhiya Koh Yao Yai, just south of Koh Yao Noi, is the one of the only affordable properties on this list, but doesn’t substitute luxury. Rooms start at US$100, your own pool villas are roughly US$200, the really nice ones with infinity pools looking out to sea will set you back US$300, and even the huge two story villas with room for up to six people usually won’t cost you more than US$400 to US$500 depending on the season. Excellent value!
The villas are all built in traditional Thai style if you’re wanting an authentic experience.
Banyan Tree Bangkok
Along with the Lebua at State Tower (Hangover II), the Moon Bar up on the equally amazing Banyan Tree hotel belongs to the very best in Bangkok. We’ve also stayed at this hotel in Bangkok and it sure was top notch, from the service to the attention to detail in the rooms and yes the Moon Bar was pretty awesome. Unlike the Lebua State Tower, The Moon Bar will most likely not be as crowded with selfie-taking tourists and thus a bit more classy, however the prices are not significantly lower. Expect to pay at least US$15 for an alcoholic drink up here.
Banyan Tree Phuket
Some of the largest private pools you’ll ever see, are part of the Banyan Tree Phuket. The long pools reach out right into the lake, or towards the beach, depending on what villa you settle for. There are a few villas that come with a water-surrounded massage parlour, with unlimited massages included throughout your stay. Sign us up!
Anantara Golden Triangle
This resort has probably got the only infinity pool in the world from which you can view three countries. All at the same time in the same direction! Thailand right in front of you, Myanmar further back, and the mountains in the distance belong to Laos. Not to mention the Anantara Golden Triangle itself is pretty amazing too, with lots of great view spots. However if you decide to come during winter, be prepared for night temperatures of only 15°C (59°F), which Thailand usually isn’t known for.
Banyan Tree Koh Samui
The third Banyan Tree property on this list is located in Koh Samui. You can start to see why this hotel brand is one of the most luxurious in the world. If you’re going to Koh Samui and you’re willing to splash your cash a bit, then the Banyan Tree is the place to go. Just look at that picture, million dollar views right there.
Rayavadee Krabi
Located right beneath some of the most beautiful limestone formations around Krabi, the Rayavadee has got an amazing setting to offer for sure and not many other places in Thailand offer scenery like this. Not only does the beach and restaurant indulge you with these fantastic views, but also the private pool villas are located just next to some of these beautiful rocks!
Soneva Kiri Koh Kood
Soneva is known for a few of the most luxurious resorts in the entire world, such as the Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives. They’ve also set foot in Thailand, with the Soneva Kiri located on the sparsely populated island of Koh Kood. They’ll even fly you there on their own plane straight from Bangkok! I guess if you can rack up the US$3,000 a night for the “basic” villas, you don’t have to worry about the cost of a private flight…
Trisara Phuket
Pictures say more than 1,000 words… Unfortunately these villas at Trisara, Phuket will also set you back more than US$1,000 per night…but with stunning views like this, its no surprise.
Vana Belle, a Luxury Collection Resort, Koh Samui
Would you rather spend the afternoon sitting in your own hot tub or chill in your super modern infinity pool? The choice is yours at the Vana Belle Koh Samui. It’s part of the Luxury Collection and thus part of the SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) programme with all the benefits resulting from that.
Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Ritz-Carlton has got one property in Thailand. It is located in Krabi and especially famous for its beautiful, relaxing, tropical themed spa. Besides that, of course their “rooms” at Phulay Bay are pretty decent too.
Sri Panwa Phuket
That bedroom right there is seriously next level. You basically just need to fall out of bed to find yourself in your own amazing infinity pool. For what it is, the price tag is still acceptable as well, with pool villas starting at US$300. Even the 250m² villa you see right here at Sri Panwa Phuket is “only” around twice that much.
Conrad Koh Samui
At the Conrad Koh Samui you’ll get a great view from almost every villa there is to choose from. The good thing is, you can book it on Hilton points and thus get some good deals in high season. During low season, it might be more economical to just pay for it, instead of using points.
Iniala Beach House Phang-Nga
The Iniala Beach House is probably one of the most stylish hotels you’ll every come across. Especially inside the futuristic villas, every single piece of furniture and decoration is nothing short of ridiculously amazing. Put all that right by a beach, add an infinity pool, and this is what you get. Unfortunately the price is extremely high too, with basic rooms starting in the four figures.
Paradee Koh Samet
If you’d rather stay in a Zanzibar style beach villa, check out the Paradee Hotel on the island of Koh Samet known for its white beaches. The villa design reminds us a bit of African beaches more than an Asian beach destination, so if you’re wanting something more unusual to the common Thai style/design this is a nice change.
Samujana Koh Samui
Before you ask: This is not the public area, this is your own terrace and pool. The Samujana Koh Samui is so over the top, there aren’t really any words to describe it. They have villas from three to eight bedrooms available, starting between US$1,000 and US3,000 a night, so this easily makes it onto our list of the most amazing hotels in Thailand.
If renting these is not an option for you, you can buy them outright and then rent them out to other people or use them as a holiday home. How does that sound!? This is a six bedroom villa:
