Where are we travelling in 2017?

Sharing is caring!

We will be doing this post annually at the start of every year, to let you guys know where we are heading and our travel plans for the coming year!

2017 is going to be a big travel year for us, we’re planning on heading to at least 4 continents and over 10 countries (so far!).

So without further a do, here are our current travel plans for 2017 (subject to more being added):

Germany (January)

We are travelling the North of Germany from 5th to 8th January as Yannick’s family and friends live around this area.

Kiel

France (January)

This hasn’t been booked yet, but I’m (Emma) determined to have a week getaway in France for skiing. We will keep you updated if we choose a resort.

France

Thailand (February)

We’re only spending 4 nights in Thailand on our way to Australia. But we’ve got 1 night in Bangkok and 3 nights on Koh Phangan for the half moon party! Excited is an understatement.

Thailand

Malaysia (February)

We’re heading to Kuala Lumpur, however we’re only there for 2 nights. But our travel plans are, so far to go up the Petronas Towers and visiting the Batu Caves.

Kuala Lumpur

Australia (February – June)

We will be in Australia, based in Sydney from mid February till the start of June, as I’m at University in Sydney (last year, yay! Cannot wait to graduate and travel full-time!). We’ve got lots of small trips planned, including: Cairns, Ayers Rock, The Whitsundays and Melbourne.

Australia

Vanuatu (April)

We’re off to Vanuatu for a week in April (so excited!), we used Air miles through Etihad for basically fly there for free. We’ve yet to book our accommodation and activities so we will keep you posted on that!

Vanuatu

The Netherlands (June)

We will only be in Amsterdam for one night, as part of our flight back home from Australia. However we’re got a huge list of sites lined up!

Netherlands

UK (June – July)

I’ll be back in the UK, whilst Yannick goes back to Germany for a few weeks in June and July. Will be in need of a good rest.

Oxford

USA (June – July)

We will be touring the West Coast for 3 weeks in late June, early July in a Mustang! We’ll be visiting various sites including: The Grand Canyon, Havasu Falls, Angels Landing, Arches National Park and much more. Don’t forget the 4th of July in Las Vegas!

USA

Switzerland (July)

We will only be in Zurich for one night before our flight back out to Australia, but will definitely make the most of it.

Zurich

Samoa, Tonga, New Caledonia or French Polynesia – please help us choose! (October)

We’re so undecided on which Pacific Island Nation to visit, we will have a week off around October time and we’re finding it so hard to choose which one, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Pacific Islands

New Zealand (November – December)

We’ll be in New Zealand for around 3/4 weeks just before Christmas. We’re hoping to rent either a car or campervan and drive from the North to South Island, stopping at many tourist and natural attractions. Any less known attractions or places we should visit? Please comment below!

New Zealand

Australia (August – December)

We will be spending Christmas and New Year in Sydney! I’ll also be graduated! We have some very special surprises in store for 2018!

I’ll be in SEA in March/April and Germany this summer! My sister will be living in Berlin for the summer and we plan to do a train trip all around northern Germany. Which cities are you going to? Can’t wait to read about your travels!

      Hey Diana!

Sounds like you’ve got some amazing places lined up for 2017 too! Germany is so beautiful, a lot of people underestimate it 😀 Make sure to visit Lubeck, the castle and river is stunning! We’ve just been in Kiel and Hamburg as Yannick’s family live there!

      Happy Travels!

You’ve done the easy part, which is the plan. Now the hard part, executing your plan! The most interesting place for me is Vanuatu because I’ve never heard of it. Well done on getting that flight free!

      Hi James!

Exactly! We love planning our trips but the hard part is actually knowing where to stay, so much choice! Oh really? Vanuatu is located in the Pacific near Fiji and New Caledonia 🙂

      Happy Travels!

Wow! That is a big itinerary. Looks like you guys will have a ton of fun. I haven’t been to Australia or New Zealand yet but I bet it will be amazing. And have fun in Thailand. I loved the culture there and as we all know, their full moon parties are quite famous. And congrats on the graduation from school. Traveling full time is very exciting. 🙂

That’s a lot of travelling to do in a year! You have some great selections there and Vanuatu seems awesome! I have always wanted to go! Great selections in Australia too! When in Whitsundays, definitely try to stay on an island resort and avoid Airlie Beach if you want the real experience. I loved sailing and snorkelling on the reef there. Best of luck with all your plans!

      Hey Kreete!

Thanks! Great tip, we will certainly look into that as its Emma’s 21st Birthday that weekend and we want to do something special!

That’s a very full year! I went to Uluru in 2015 and LOVED IT. Vanuatu is somewhere I’d really like to go visit too. I think you should go to Samoa or New Caledonia. Good luck with your studies this year.

Wow – I can’t believe you’ve got the whole year figured out! You’ll be visiting lots of great places even if some of them are only for a short while (better than nothing). Sorry I can’t help you choose your destination for October as I haven’t been to any of them but they all sound wonderful! Happy travels in 2017!
